  • Offers a hybrid/electric vehicle discount
Cons:
  • Scored slightly below industry average in J.D. Power auto claims handling survey
  • Its Intellidrive monitoring application will reward you if you’re a good driver but may penalize you if you drive aggressively

What do people ask about Travelers insurance?

To help you find out what you need to know about Travelers, we took a look at some of the questions being asked about the company online.

Why did my Travelers rate go up?

Car insurance rates go up for a lot of reasons. Sometimes it’s related to the driver, like a ticket or accident, but it may simply be an across-the-board rate increase. Car insurance rates have increased nationwide recently in response to higher claim costs related to issues like increased cost of parts and labor and increased incidences of severe weather. If you don’t know why your rate went up, contact Travelers to ask.

Is Travelers good at paying claims?

Travelers has an A++ rating with AM Best, which indicates its financial ability to pay claims. However, based on a consumer survey, J.D. Power rated it a little below average for claims satisfaction. Of course, there are many aspects to claims satisfaction, and the lower rating doesn’t mean the company doesn’t pay claims but may reflect the claims process more than the outcome.

Is Travelers a good insurance company?

Travelers has a low complaint volume with the NAIC, among the lowest of the companies we surveyed, and a strong customer satisfaction record. Many clients speak favorably of their experiences with Travelers.

Not all comments are favorable, of course, so it can be highly dependent on your individual experience.
